Paul Cordes Provincial XC No 6 - Logwood Bike Haven
All the cross country racers showed up at Logwood on Saturday for the last provincial cross country of the season.
A light drizzle of rain in the morning helped to compact the course which lead to some fantastic racing conditions.
Category start times were split throughout the morning to help reduce congestion and aid overtaking through the tight technical single track sections Logwood had to offer.
There was a great turn out considering it was late in the season and there were a few other events on the weekend (world xc champs for example).
It was difficult to get into rhythm, it felt like short power sprints followed by some hard but smooth braking into a corner, hitting the apex then on the power again.
This was a good test of technical skill and core strength mixed in with some high levels of concentration because one slip could mean loosing some serious time.
I had a good race finishing first in category and posted a consistent lap time which was my goal seeing this was my first hard ride in the last two weeks after having to recover from a dose of flu. All in all it was a great event, well organized and had a great vibe.
Well done to Geoff and his team, hope to see a few more races here next year!
